HLA diagnostics or tissue typing is used to resolve issues of bone marrow and organ transplantation, to diagnose hereditary diseases associated with genes of the major histocompatibility complex, as well as to diagnose some forms of infertility associated with HLA features of spouses.
The HLA typing laboratory was established in 2010.
The main tasks of the HLA typing laboratory:
- serological and molecular genetic HLA-typing of class I and II;
- high resolution genotyping in bone marrow transplantation;

The HLA typing laboratory performs typing of bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell donors for the Republican Register of Voluntary Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donors, selection of a donor-recipient pair for bone marrow transplantation (class I and II).
The HLA typing laboratory is equipped with the latest equipment for DNA extraction, SSO HLA genotyping and SSP HLA genotyping of HLA-I class and HLA-II class antigens.
