Orthognathic surgery is a surgical treatment of dentoalveolar anomalies aimed at eliminating facial disharmony and normalizing occlusion. Surgical methods are indicated for skeletal anomalies in which conservative methods of treatment are ineffective. These are, for example, pathologies of the horizontal plane (underdevelopment of the upper jaw and excessive development of the lower), pronounced disocclusion and pathological deep bite, as well as combined anomalies.
